Mercyful Fate!!!!!!!!
If you read my blog you probably notice I LOVE Mercyful Fate and Slayer. Such great music, I just have to gush about them.
Big 4 thoughts.....\m/ \m/
Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth are all solid bands. I respect a lot of the work they have all done. My favorite of the big 4 has got to be Slayer though. I talk about this band a lot but it's for a reason, they have put out so many classic records. I recently saw a That Metal Show on VHI classic where they discuss this topic. Metallica was the eventual winner, which wasnt' a big shocker. I would take Slayer over those guys any day though. Now I am going to get back to listening to Slayer!
My review for Rust In Peace by Megadeth
Megadeth's Rust In Peace is the quintessential thrash metal record. Dave and Marty have incredibly good guitar solos and riffs all over the album. Ellefson's bass and Menza's drums are top notch and blend perfectly with the 6 strings. Mustaine delivers excellent vocals with his unique snarl and wide vocal range. This album is the full meal deal and belongs in every metal heads collection. Rust In Peace can go head to head with any thrash album and hold its own. The album has no fillers and the production value is very high. The album is iconic and is a 10/10.
Hail SLAYER \m/ \m/
Just sitting here listening to Slayer's Hell Awaits. I can't wait to see these guys kill it on the Mayhem Tour. I am gonna be wearing my Slayer gear with pride. Hearing Tom's AAAAAHHHHHHAAAHHHH live will be awesome!
If anyone can see this......
Please leave me a comment, I have no idea if anyone can see or find my blog. Cheers \m/ \m/
Mercyful Fate's Melissa review
Mercyful Fate's Melissa is the band's debut studio album. It really is a masterpiece that is a measuring stick for other metal albums. King Diamond's vocal range is incredible. The album has insane guitar riffs which are matched perfectly with the bass and drums. Every song is epic on this album. If you have never heard this record you are really missing out. I could go on and on about the mastery of this album. It's the type of record that never gets old and is better every time you listen to it. This legendary album is perfect and scores a 666.
Rainbow's Rising album review
Ronnie James Dio and Ritchie Blackmore really created an excellent record with Rising. Ronnie's powerhouse vocals and Blackmore's guitar are complemented perfectly by the band's bass, drums and keyboards. The album has no fillers or bad songs. I must confess that I am a huge Ronnie James Dio fan and as far as I am considered anything he touches turns to gold. His passion for the music pours out of every song. Excellent song writing, out of this world instrumentals and Ronnie's voice certify this record as a 10/10.
My first heavy metal experience...
Metallica is a group that I have mixed emotions about. I will go more into detail on this another day. That aside, their Master Of Puppets record was my first heavy metal record and it still holds a special place in my heart. I alway like to hear about people's first heavy metal album. Feel free to comment about this.
A little more on Black Sabbath's first record
The album cover of this record is fantastic. Kinda random I know, but just look at it and you will notice lots of cool nuances.
Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath review
I thought it would be appropriate for my first review to be from a pioneering metal record. Black Sabbath's self titled first album was released back in 1970. The record has stood the test of time for over 4 decades and it does not sound dated at all. The album delves into some dark themes which were pretty controversial back then. Ozzy's voice, Tony's guitar, Geezer's bass and Bill's drums come together in perfect unison to create an epic record. Any fan of music owes it to themselves to listen to this record. Every song is excellent and special in its own unique way. It's the type of album that is hard to criticize. This pioneering metal masterpiece is a 10/10.
Mayhem Festival \m/ \m/
I will be attending the Mayhem Festival and will see great bands like Anthrax, Motorhead, Slipknot and....SLAYER! There are many other bands playing there, these are the ones I am most looking forward to. Slayer is the real highlight for me. That band is genius and there music never lets me down!
Thoughts on Mercyful Fate
So I was sitting here listening to their Melissa album. What a truly awesome album. I could listen to it over and over, it never gets old. King Diamond's vocals are out of this world! I wish he would come tour in the USA.
My very own review criteria
So I want to review albums. I am thinking a scale from 1-10 is good to use. There are some heavy metal records that are so incredibly epic and masterful that they deserve a score that exceeds a 10. These select few records will be scored with a 666. Keep checking back for updates. Rock on! \m/ \m/
